Spring/Summer
Beaches - Many public beaches are maintained by the City of Kenora. Enjoy beaches with sandy shores as well as docks, piers, lookout decks and boardwalks.
Anicinabe Beach - campsites, beach, picnic area, general store, BBQ pits.
Coney Island Beach - On Lake of the Woods, summer boat access only. A quick shuttle boat ride takes you to the access point on Coney Island where you can enjoy the day swimming, playing & hiking. There is a concession open daily.
Garrow Park Beach - Great beach for families & children. Play structures, docks, washrooms, access to Rabbit Lake Trail, picnic area and ample grassy area.
Keewatin Beach - Beach, picnic area, play structure, washrooms.
Norman Beach - beach, picnic area, play struct, splash park, Hoopla island. Lots of parking, great for families and children.
Lake Tours: the M.S. Kenora offers day cruises around Lake of the Woods, cruises sail three times daily, twice on Sundays. They also offer Native Cultural Tours. View their website for more information.
Rock climbing - Rock climbing: You will find the perfect landscape for rock climbing of all skill levels in the City of Kenora and surrounding region. For experienced climbers or your first time, there are options for you to explore the area rock formations.

Cycling - Check out our network of recreational bicycle routes that connect Kenora's outlying areas to the downtown and key attractions around the City. All routes start and end at the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre. Each route is identified by a coloured dot, and clearly marked on bike route signs throughout the City.
Water sports - Being on the water is one of the best ways to spend your days exploring our local waterways in the Kenora area. Get some exercise and fresh air on a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddle board. There are many local adventure providers who provide rentals.
Golf Courses -Kenora has two local golf courses, Kenora Golf and Country Club and Beauty Bay Golf Course. Both are 18 hole courses, par 72 and par 71 respectively.

Fall/Winter
Ice fishing - Northwestern Ontario, Canada, and it is well-known for its picturesque lakes and fishing opportunities, including ice fishing during the winter months. A spectacular location for multi-species ice fishing and known as “Walleye Capital of the World”. Other popular fish include perch, pike, crappie, whitefish, trout, smallmouth bass, lake trout, and musky.

Snowmobiling - Snowmobile trails in the Lake of the Woods area have been maturing – the land trails have been in for ten years now and they give riders in Canada's Midwest some of the best snowmobile riding available. Check out trail maps by local group Sunset Trail Riders as well as regional maps by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) and The Northwest Angle Edge Riders Snowmobile Club.

Winter February through March. Summer June - October, Wednesdays 8am-2pm
Mount Evergreen, located at 120 Mt Evergreen Road, will have you skiing or snowboarding down 11 runs for various skill levels with two T-Bar lifts, a Terrain Park, tubing hill, and a fully equipped chalet including rental equipment.
Cross country skiing & Snowshoeing
Kenora's cross country skiing opportunities are limitless! You can choose to ski frozen waterways, rugged forest landscape or professionally groomed trails of Rushing River Provincial Park, Mount Evergreen, and Vernon Nature Area trails
Kenora lends itself to endless snowshoe adventures; whether is it hitting one of our year round trails, venturing on to frozen waterways or maybe making your own tracks. Check out Tunnel Island trails, Rabbit Lake trail, Vernon Nature Area, Rushing River Provincial Park or trails at Minaki Yurt Adventures. Snowshoe rentals are available at Green Adventures on River Drive.
